About the Role
A tax-first practice, built around a real plan.
This role sits inside a tax-first retirement planning practice built for married couples in their 50s and 60s with $2 million or more saved in 401(k)s and IRAs. Every client relationship runs through the Retire Ready Roadmap™, a structured plan covering Roth conversions, Social Security claiming, Medicare and IRMAA, and the withdrawal sequencing that determines how much a household can safely spend.
The firm is growing, and this role is built for someone who wants to run client relationships, not just service them. The systems, the intake process, and the tax coordination are already in place. Your job is to sit across the table from clients and make the plan real for them, using the Rothification Method™ to turn each household's conversion strategy into a concrete, year-by-year schedule.
Responsibilities
What you'll own
- Build and present Retire Ready Roadmap™ plans for prospective clients moving through the firm's intake process.
- Lead client meetings covering Roth conversion timing, Social Security claiming, Medicare and IRMAA planning, and withdrawal sequencing.
- Coordinate with the tax and paraplanning team so each client's plan stays current as tax law, markets, and life circumstances change.
- Review and refine each household's Rothification Method™ conversion schedule year over year.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for your own book of retirement-focused clients.
- Document meeting notes, plan updates, and follow-up actions in the firm's planning software.
Essential Skills
What you'll bring
- You communicate complex tax and retirement concepts in plain language, without jargon.
- You're comfortable running a client meeting solo and owning the follow-through.
- You have a strong technical grasp of Roth conversions, RMDs, Social Security claiming, and Medicare/IRMAA rules.
- You stay organized across multiple client plans and deadlines at once.
- You're genuinely interested in tax-first planning, not just asset management.
What You Won't Be Doing
This role is built without the parts that burn advisors out.
- Cold-calling for new business. Leads arrive through the firm's existing intake process.
- Selling proprietary products or commission-based insurance.
- Managing day-to-day trading or portfolio rebalancing. That work is handled elsewhere.
- Spending your week prospecting instead of meeting with clients.
- Working without support. Paraplanning and tax coordination are already in place.
Requirements
What's needed to apply
- You have at least 5 years of experience as a financial advisor, including at least 2 years as a lead advisor.
- You hold a CFP® Professional designation.
- You pass a clean background check.
- You'll earn bonus consideration if you're also a CPA, though it's not required.
Compensation
What the role pays
- Your starting salary falls between $150,000 and $200,000, based on your experience and skill level.
- Your bonus target is 10%, tied to firm and personal growth.
- You get paid holidays and PTO, starting at 20 days and increasing annually, plus a 401(k) with a company match.
- Health, dental, and vision insurance are available if you need them.
